In line with its continuous efforts to refine the Company Service Providers (“CSP”) framework, the MFSA has introduced a new category: Restricted Company Service Providers (RCSPs).

Who qualifies as an RCSP?
Individuals who act as a director and/or company secretary on an occasional basis, not “by way of business”, that is, they regularly provide these services.

No Registration Needed - But You Must Notify

RCSPs don’t need to obtain authorisation, but they must notify the MFSA. The deadline? 16 July 2025, following a two-month transitional period.

Submit your notification via the MFSA Licence Holder (LH) Portal.

A Guidance Note is also available to walk you through the process.

Fee? €50 notification fee payable to MFSA (One-Time)

Exemptions Apply

You don’t need to notify or get authorised if you’re:

  • Acting solely by virtue of employment, family ties, or beneficial interest
  • Already authorised under the Trusts and Trustees Act
  • A director or secretary in a licensed, listed, or holding company of such
