DFK Malta, in partnership with our client, a leading group of companies operating in residential and industrial projects & a boutique hotel, is seeking a Financial Controller to join their finance department. Job Description

As a Financial Controller, the right candidate will report to the Director while being responsible for the company’s day-to-day finance operations. Part of the responsibilities includes ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and driving process improvements. The ideal candidate should be fully qualified and fluent in Maltese (desirable), detail-oriented, and have strong communication skills to work collaboratively. Knowledge of Maltese taxation and local financial operations is crucial for the success of the role.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and execute financial tasks and projects for the organization.
  • Estimate the funds required for the organization’s short- and long-term financial objectives.
  • Prepare financial reports, lead the month-end closing process, and conduct monthly financial forecasts.
  • Develop budgeting plans, forecasting, reporting and process payments.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to drive business performance.
  • Manage and monitor key metrics and KPIs.
  • Analyze the organization’s financial performance and measure returns on investment.
  • Liaise with external auditors and support them with the required reports to ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Perform any other duties commensurate with the role.
Requirements
  • Fully qualified accountant (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in a similar role as a Financial Controller.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations (IFRS, GAAP, or local accounting standards).
  • Experience with SFM (Shireburn) will be considered a plus.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
  • Prior experience in managing or supervising a small finance team is an advantage.
