DFK Malta, in partnership with its client, is seeking a Construction Helper / Labourer to support finishing activities across various construction projects in Malta.
Job Description
The role involves general finishing, snagging, minor repairs and remedial works to ensure completed areas meet the required quality standards. The ideal candidate is hands-on, practical and comfortable using common construction tools and materials under the supervision of the Site Supervisor. * Department: Construction – Finishings * Work Location: Various construction sites across Malta * Reports To: Site Supervisor / Finishings Supervisor
Role and Responsibilities
- Carry out snagging works, including repairing minor cracks, holes, chips and surface imperfections.
- Assist with plastering repairs, filling, patching, sanding and surface preparation.
- Perform painting touch-ups and minor finishing works on walls, ceilings and other surfaces.
- Assist with tile repairs, grouting, silicone application and sealing.
- Carry out minor repairs and adjustments to doors, skirting, fittings and fixtures, within their competence.
- Support skilled tradespeople with finishing and remedial works.
- Prepare and clean work areas, protect completed finishes and maintain site cleanliness.
- Handle, transport and organise construction materials, tools and equipment.
- Identify and report defects or incomplete works to the Site Supervisor.
- Follow site instructions, quality standards and all Health and Safety requirements.
Requirements
- Candidates should have practical experience using common construction hand tools and basic power tools, including:
- Hand tools: Hammers, screwdrivers, pliers, utility knives, scrapers, putty knives, trowels and floats.
- Measuring tools: Measuring tapes, spirit levels and marking tools.
- Finishing tools: Sandpaper, sanding blocks, paintbrushes, rollers, caulking guns and grouting tools.
- Power tools: Cordless drills, electric screwdrivers, sanders and other basic portable tools.
- Other equipment: Mixing buckets, material mixing tools and general construction cleaning equipment.
- Power tools and specialised equipment must only be operated by individuals with the appropriate training, instruction and authorisation.
- Candidate Requirements
- Previous hands-on experience in construction, preferably in finishing, maintenance or snagging works.
- Ability to carry out minor repairs and a variety of finishing tasks.
- Familiarity with common construction materials, hand tools and basic power tools.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently on assigned tasks within their level of competence.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual tasks, including lifting and handling materials, prolonged standing, bending and carrying out duties safely and efficiently.
- Currently based in Malta.
